First Church Home          Meet the Staff

Where I grew up: Laughlintown PA, small town in Ligonier Valley, Westmoreland County How I became a Christian: I was raised in the Laughlintown Christian Church - was part of my growing up. My Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Virginia Bennett, was a great influence on me. Family: Husband, Daryl; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cathy; three granddaughters - Rebecca, Emily, and Bethany How I got into ministry: Served as deaconess and treasurer in Hempfield Christian Church, Greensburg prior to moving to the Altoona area. Also filled in at the office when the secretary was on vacation. Upon moving to Altoona, worked for the Hollidaysburg Area School District, then a contractor's supply house and served as assistant treasurer and deaconess here at First Church.  When the position of church secretary opened 1989, I expressed my desire to serve in this capacity. Began as secretary in 1990 and over the years the responsibilities have expanded to that of office administrator. Even though I mainly deal with the business side of the church, I do consider this a ministry.
