Serving God is awesome... And serving God in an area that you are gifted for and passionate about is through the roof awesome!

Another way to say that is--it's a great thing to step up to the plate and fill a need in a ministry. But it's a through the roof awesome thing when you discover your THING and begin serving in your MINISTRY NICHE... now we're talking joy and passion that motivates us to be our very best for God. This kind of service changes lives!

FIVE STATEMENTS that will help you discover your THING!

Ponder these... take notes, pray about... talk to your friends about it--and you will begin to get a sense of who God made you to be! Then contact Pastor Brad. He'll help you connect your THING to a personal mission that will help people fall in love with Jesus!

1. I'm successful at it.
Over the years--when you do this thing--it's gone well.

2. I'm instinctive about it.
Generally speaking--you feel a fish IN water when you do this... it suits you well and feels very natural to you.

3. I could do this for hours.
Time doesn't exist when you do this--you enjoy it, it energizes you and you could do it all day long.

4. I feel "fulfilled" by it.
When you do this you don't feel like your "wasting time", you're doing something that you love and that God created you to do.

5. People tell me I'm good at this.
When you do this--people compliment you on it--they say, "That was great!" or "You're good at that!"

People matter to God. We were His idea. We exist because He created us. And when we rebelled against Him by sinning. He launched an all-out reconciliation plan and relentlessly pursued us until we were reunited through the work of Jesus on the cross.

The Bible really is an amazing love story. God loves us so much that would rather die than live without us… literally.

At First Church is a core motivational reality for us. We strive each and every opportunity we get to communicate to people, "You matter to God!"

And it's our goal to fill the hearts and minds of every single volunteer that serves (in ANY capacity) with this same passion and desire.

We want the person running the sound board to be thinking, "I'm helping people discover that they matter to God by providing great quality sound for them-so they can hear the music and the messages presented in each service."

We want our First Impressions Team (Greeters/Ushers) to think, "I'm communicating to people that they matter to me, and to God by the way I serve them."

And right on down the line-whether you're loving on a baby in the nursery, driving the Church van, preparing snacks and drinks in the café, or whatever you're doing - the message, the mantra, the mission is "People matter so much to God!" … and we want them to get that…to feel that… to discover that and be changed by it as they experience God's love - ministered to then through the hands, feet and lips of his people here at First Church.
